So I was diagnosed with copd, my blood pressure readings are getting higher. I’m now waiting to have a 24 hour monitor fitted!
My question is “is high blood pressure linked to copd or separate condition?”

Hia seems that way but lots can be done bring down : I don’t know you have smart phone I have fab ap checks all sorts I care. Health monitor : it’s really quite accurate as checked with doc reading blood preasure
High blood pressure can be linked with copd. However it can be caused by many other factors from anxiety to heart conditions, kidney conditions or simply using the wrong sized cuff to take the reading. Personally I would wait for the result of the 24 hour tape as it will eliminate some factors and allow the Doctor more insight into the actual cause.
I have COPD and high blood pressure, but probably the two are unrelated. The high BP happened after the menopause, whereas the COPD appeared 15 years after.
I have high blood pressure and COPD but there not related. Had the blood pressure for 8 years before I got COPD. Xxx
Hi I was given diagnosis of COPD (stage 2) & the opportunity of pulmonary rehab. At the assessment they told me my B.P. was so high they would not do the physical assessment. I had previously had an ambulatory 24hr test (a few years prior in a different area of the country) & told when I returned machine that it was ok as on average the reading was acceptable & had no follow up appointment with Nurse or GP! Anyway upshot was new GP said the earlier test results should have resulted in BP medication which she promptly prescribed & I joined pulmonary rehab 6 weeks later. As to what came first is a chicken & egg situation, I suspect the COPD was developing for some years at that point but as I have had asthma since childhood I hadn't considered COPD just assumed my pre existing condition was worsening. No one has linked respiratory conditions & high B.P. in consultations I've had but there seems to be a logical connect i.e. struggling to breathe = anxiety = B.P. rising. But I don't believe it's an expected co-exist. Your 24 hr monitor will give them more info so try not to be too anxious & let the numbers inform them & you. Every one is different.
I have had COPD severe for 9yrs but my Blood Pressure is normal. They are not related if you go by me.
My BP is low waiting to have monitor as well
