Exacerbations

I don't know if I've ever had one or not. Sometimes I feel pretty poorly and other times I feel OK. Never great, of course, but sometimes not too bad. Today, for instance, was a pretty good day. For one thing, the weather was just beautiful. I mowed my partner's lawn, front and back, edged with the weedeater and tidied up with the blower. Yard looked great and I managed it without much difficulty. These are the kind of days I like to have. Then, when I was done we went to a neighborhood pub for cheeseburgers and beer. Tomorrow, I do my yard. Breathe easy, everyone.

It's really good to hear that challny. I'm glad you're feeling so much better now. The sciatica sounded horrendous. It's good to know that you can get out and do things. Don't overdo it though. Take care of yourself 👍

Oh, you'd know if you'd had an exacerbation!

Glad you're feeling well now :-)

Exacerbations stop me in my tracks. Have to stop doing stuff and look after the lungs instead.

Ergendl please describe an exacerbation for me. Is it just not feeling as good as you normally would?

Struggling to breathe, feel faint, have to sit down, or need desperately to escape the thing that's caused the exacerbation. So far I've only had reactive exacerbations to things around me like cheap perfume, doing too much in a dusty atmosphere, problems with a new medication, smoke, exhaust fumes, high altitude, high humidity - these can pass quickly once identified and dealt with.

Continuously work at avoiding infectious exacerbations which have the potential to be life limiting and last much longer.

Thanks, Ergendl for explaining. I'm going through something lately. SOB, fatigue, not much appetite. No fun. It helps to talk about it.

Hi challny... I've only had one exacerbation in all the 36 years I've had bronc...(last year) It's was totally different from a normal infection or feeling unwell... You'll know if you've had one... For me I couldn't breathe (never had that before) constant coughing and I mean constant... Bringing up copious amounts of mucus...can't do anything as was totally exhausted.. couldn't work for 3 weeks.. hit me like a brick lol... If u get one get straight to docs... 😀😉

Dodgylungsrunner thanks for your reply. I have emphysema, not CB, so I don't normally cough a lot or deal with mucus. Just your standard SOB and fatigue.
