I’ve been having issues with sudden breathlessness, chronic chest pain with cough, and black hands. All getting worse over several months. I had a scan last year that noted a nodule in my right lung but wasn’t told and the consultant failed to follow up despite being suggested and instead was discharged without explanation and orally told inflammation of chest wall and then later in same conversation that there was no muscle skeletal problems. I am not sure what I am asking but am alarmed. Has anyone else had similar and what is best way to deal with hospital that fails to make a considered diagnosis rather than snap judgement?

Complain to PALS and see if that shakes things up. You deserve much better. Xxxxx
Your GP should have the radiologist’s report and the letter from the consultant discharging you. Go to your GP and get them to look at all correspondence in front of you. Tell them that you are concerned that the consultant did not follow up the radiologist’s report and get them to send you to a different consultant who will take it seriously.
Don’t take no for an answer. This is a disgraceful failure of the consultant’s duty of care towards you and your GP needs to act accordingly or they will be in breach also.
You need to know what is going on and I’m afraid that all too often we have to fight our own corner and hold the medics to account.
