Has any-one got any advice regarding purchasing an air pollution monitor just so I can be aware of just how much pollution I am tolerating.and then I can get out of it as soon possible As the temperature is rising I I have started going out for the first time since last November and am very sensitive to Air Pollution The trouble is that Leeds is one of the most polluted cities in the UK Also do you think it is worth it to purchase one

It sounds a bit expensive to me. The BBC weather app gives pollution info. Just key in the area you are going to. Be careful out there 😊

Hi STANFORD the air pollution varies from place to place you can be breathing polluted air in one place but yet a few hundred yards away it could be reasonably clean. It is mostly caused by cars but I believe that if you know you are in a polluted area it is advantageous and helps you to get away before the fumes start to impede your breathing. I know it is expensive but I think it will be worth the money.I could wear a smog mask but I am a mouth breather and find the smog masks get clogged up with sputum. I have looked around and they are about forty pounds for an Air pollution monitor. I think it would be worth it if I can escape these horrible car fumes What does any-body else think I should do

Not so expensive and if it gives you peace of mind why not give it a bash. I stay as far away from traffic as I can but then I don't live in a major City like Leeds. I have been indoors myself since about November last, we have a lot of fog here which doesn't agree with me. See how it goes, we only get one life and I doubt you want to spend the rest of it indoors! Good luck and have some fun out there

I bought mine here: nuwavesensors.com/product/c... Actually, I bought two, one for the bedroom and one for the living room. I like them. They alert me when the air quality is poor. Sometimes the odor index goes into the red zone. I don't smell anything and haven't done anything that I know of to cause this. If I go outside I can usually smell smoke. A couple of my neighbors burn wood for heat and that's most likely the cause.

Also, I've noticed that often when a large truck or bus goes by the air quality goes down. My house is 70ft from the road. Just goes to show how quickly and how far exhaust fumes can travel.

Jonwest thanks for your info regarding air quality monitors I will go on the web site to have a look what they have to offer.I need one for outside as I have just started going out again need to know where the worst areas of pollution are so I can avoid them and also be aware of the air quality I am breathing at the time. Temperature also effects me particuluraly an instant change of temperature. So thanks again all the best Keep smiling
