Spacer problem

I was told that I should take Spiriva through a spacer as I was not getting full benfit without one. I shake as directed, twist the top and place the mouthpiece in the spacer. Press the button to release the dose and nothing happens, take it out and can release the dose in the usual way. Back to square one, taking it through the mouth but not getting a full dose as before. Any suggestions would be welcome please, Polly X

Hi

Spacers are only suitable for mist inhalers, such as Ventolin.

Not suitable for capsules.

Which should be taken as directed.

Place capsule in handihaler press side button to prick capsul, inhale deep and fast.

Are you taking Spiriva Respimat?

Sorry Stone, yes it is Spiriva Respimat, I didn't realise there were two sorts of these. I wonder why I was advised to use a spacer? Regards, Polly X

Hi polly, I was told to use a spacer when my asthma flares up. Haven't needed to yet but your blog has me thinking, so I will try with the spacer and see what happens. Keep in touch. Maximonkey

Not sure how you can use the spireva respimat in a spacer to be honest : Stone-uk talks about the spin inhaler I think ..... not the fine mist one : Ok just tried mine and it does work , twisted and fired mine and you can see the mist fill the aero chamber : all I can suggest is you have another go xxxxx best of luck xxxxx
