Your doctor can sign you off work if you are unable, that is the place to start, ask for a sick certificate to present to JSA and keep a copy for your re application for ESA Keep copies of all sick certifications that you forward to Benefits Agency from your doctor. Present any copies of test results, CT scan etc concerning your health with the ESA application. Check your CAB website for guidance on points you need to qualify for ESA.
Best wishes
Reaply for EESA. Get letters from your gp. and consultant and any other professional that you have dealings with, ot ect ask blf help line, cab, equal lives for help filling in the forms. Dont do it yourself. Think of yourself on your worst of days. Not your best or avarage they will ask for your average but if you have an exarsperation you would be off work for weeks not days so always go for your worst. Remember its not your illness they are interested in but how it effects your day to day living. If your copd is realy bad then you also need to apply for pip's same sort of thing as far as form filling goes. Also do as Bkin said with regards sick note ect Good luck
Hi Bobby, I have in boxed you the link for a group that will help you to reapply for your ESA, they are experts on getting a fair appraisal. good luck
Hi sorry to hear this. Whilst you reapply for ESA (how about PIP as well?) get a letter from your doctor/consultant stating that because of your health problems you can only work a certain number of hours a week then take it to the Jobcentre. They will keep it on record and it will to some extent protect you. I did this when I was on JSA and it really helped.
Have at look on the Gov.UK site as well. x
Thanks guys
Hi Bobby141084 my advise to you would be to seek help such as a Welfare advisor , advocate or citizens advice they will be able to help or guide you in the right direction, I don't know how someone with really bad copd is expected to look for work, I'm only at stage 2 & am very tired alot off the time & can't function much as I have hardly any energy much off the time & get a lot off infections, you need to get some help asap & get your evidence together Drs/Hospital letters to show the Welfare, advocate or citizens advice which ever you choose you could take someone trusted along with you, as its not easy talking sometimes when having a flare up off copdI wish you all the best, will be good to know how you get on, please let us know
Thank u
