Very interesting article, but think some of us have known this for a long time about figures being juggled to make money. Statins can have dangerous consequences in some patients too and many elderly will gain nothing from taking them this late in their lives. Its just like the vitamin D regime introduced they are now prescribing it to people with normal blood count in the winter incase they don't get enough sunshine, when in fact a good balanced deit would do far more good in older people. My mum lived through wars ect without these supplements and lived to 97 without any major illness. Thanks for the article though.
Very interesting. I am against statins even more since watching this.
One would think that if so many are on statins for the past 10 years...a huge increase in the number of users, there would also be a huge associative decrease in the number of deaths and strokes attributed to high colesterol...if they actually work. I think a correlation time study would be evidence that they work. I cannot find a significant decrease in heart attack and strokes over last 10 years anywhere, and would really like to see if anyone can find such statistic. If there is a decrease in heart attacks/strokes you might suspect that it is simply because people are living healthier or exercising more.
