Just had a phone call from the physios. I was using a facemask with a white filter. It is marked 23% 4l, she said i should be on 4l. I think this means you get 23% oxygen in the sir you breathe which is only slightly more than actual air. She said with a nose cannula you only get a fe percent more. I wasn't actually aware.
I had gone for a pr assessment. Didn't go well, i only walked 80m and couldn't go any further. She said i wasn't good enough to do the course. I agreed but rang back the next day. I've not been feeling well for few days. I think I've got a chest infection so I've started on abs. I got out of breath walking down stairs this morning!

Room air contains 21% oxygen with supplementary oxygen that increases by. 1lpm = 24%, 2 lpm =28%, 3lpm = 32% 4lpm =36%.
So your oxygen intake is 36% on 4lpm same as me now.
These are flow rates or settings the actual amount of oxygen we receive is governed by our breathing rate, which can vary between 20/30 breaths per minute, a low of 12 or a high of 40 is not unheard of. You only receive oxygen on inhalation not exhalation.
I was put on Ambulitory oxygen as a result of my pulmonary rehabilitation assement 2lpm. My walking abilities where lower than yours, so why you are not acceptable for course is a mystery. The whole purpose is to increase your capabilities.
On my first day I had breathing episode, which they where going to take me of the course, but because of the complications in getting me home safely ( they have duty of care once your on the premises)
I convinced them to let me carry on, which they did,all the time I was accompanied by a nurse who monitored my oxygen levels. I completed all 14 exercises.
It was mentioned to me that they could possibly do one on one course.
So really they should have put more effort to meeting your requirements.
I forgot to say, my course starts on 8th jan. There was one chap on the previous course who had to stop, he just couldn't manage, he had someone with him the whole time to make sure he was ok
Hi I din5 do too well with a cannula and used to use a face mask until my oxygen nurse gave me a Bi-Flow mask to try. I find them very comfortable, I can talk, eat and drink while using it. Maybe worth a try my oxygen supplier carries them so I now have a supply of them. Barbs x
I fell asleep mid post. I was saying about looking after my snozzle.,,. I wasnt aware of the long term effects this would have. Feels like I've bored a hole through a nostril and mum keeps tripping over the umbilical cord, yanking it about.
The tubing pushes my right side eye bag up which is most attractive, I knew my face wasnt symmetrical but it really shows how skewiff I am.
AND .... where oh where does all that stuff come from? Was it there all the time hidden from me?
