Does anyone else nap? .. I find if I don’t have a nap In the afternoon I struggle to get through night time.. I use to fight the feeling and force myself to stay awake but that’s just not possible now .. I know the constant use of steroids and anitbiotics don’t help as they keep me awake through the night hence tired during the day .. some days ye just can’t win xx

Nap ..
Hi,
Sometimes I nap, sometimes I don't. I just listen to my body. I used to feel guilty kipping during the day. Then I thought... who's rules am I following? There's no law forbidding day time napping. So now I do what I feel is best for me.
I used to nap but don’t really have time now. I do however sleep 8-9 hrs at night.
Hi Candyred.
I never used to nap, but now I go to bed with laptop or watch TV - I find it hard to sleep as I am having a bad year with pain on top of my lung problems. This keep me awake most of night.
Now excuses over. There are no rules against having a nap, go for it and why feel guilty? If you enjoy a nap, it will do you more good than not bothering. Simple if you want a nap then you are tired. have a nap it is legal, well I think you never know these days.....I like an hour before "Wineoclock at weekend..Go for it as relaxation is always good.
Pete naps as it gets him through the day. He sleeps ok at night but gets up early every morning, hence he’s tired ........so round we go again. Lol. Xxxxx
Yes, I have my Siesta every afternoon for half hour, otherwise I would be Nodding off during my favourite programmes. xxxx
My poor twinnie, i am napping alongside you. I get so tired somedays, as you know, that i am napping all day long. As Sassy59 said “here we go again”, with COPD it changes from day to day. Some days i feel as if i am asleep most of the day, then awake through the night.
Having saidthat Candy, i just woke up 🙈💤💤💤.
❤️
Yes I nap in the afternoons I seem to tire easy these days more so when I've had a infection. Majt 😃
Yes more so when I have an infection thanks x
Some days I would so love a nap, but I need to look after my son so rarely get to, sometimes I put on a film and snooze on the sofa whilst he's watching it. Weekdays I work till 3.30pm, but I'm always in bed by 9.30, me anthe kids go to bed at the same time!
Hi I have always had a nap long before I had copd in the evening after work. Otherwise I found I couldn't keep my eyes open especially when out socialising. It often wasn't for sleep but for my brain to quieten down from the working day as I get overloaded easily. x
Yes i often nap especialy early afternoon
If my body says im sleepy then i listen to it 😴
Napping is just lovely 😴
just give your body what it needs..📺 🛌 📻 💤 📚 ✅
Ok thank you x
There was a programme on with Eamonn Holmes, how to get a good nights sleep, the other day and they said we need sleep in chunks and said napping was good for you, I sometimes nap when I am over tired and always feel better for it, but I am usually awake every couple of hours most nights, have been like this for years.
I the caregiver for my copd hubby and I nap cuz he keeps me awake at night
My husband is still same x
Know the feeling by 3pm I sit down with a cuppa. I never get to finish it I have gone to the land of nod. Like yourself I have tried to stay awake. I just go with it now. Won't allow myself more than an hour though
I then I was thinking it was my age!!!! I am 76 but refuse to accept it so often fight against it, however I think wheezyof makes a very valid point in saying
“ whose rules am I following? “
I think that is brilliant.
Thank you for that. 👌
I also nap in the afternoon, my excuse used to be fatigue from pain and meds, now I no longer make them an excuse, just nap. Oddly, I find if I do not nap I get overtired, and then cannot get to sleep that night, exhausted but just thrash around in bed. So only go without the nap if something very good to do during the day, such as being taken out for a very good meal, (very rare these days!!!)
I don't sleep well at night despite mertazapine tablets given to help me sleep. I often have a nap just to keep me going.
Yes, I often end up having a nap and it doesn't seem to make any difference as to whether I have a good night's sleep or not. Enjoy the luxury!
I have a nap most days, limit myself to an hour though
I have always had the propensity to nap during the day. My mum would put be on my bed if I was naughty when I was little but that turned out to be a non punishment as I just curled up and went to sleep! Now I have Pulmonary Fibrosis the effort of just living is the physical equivalent of climbing a mountain every day, so my nap in the afternoon is essential. I still sleep at night so maybe I am lucky to be able to have the luxury of a sleep during the day. Go with flow and enjoy!
I am in my 77th year, and held quite a few high powered jobs, and always took a so called "Power Nap" after lunch! I still do, think its something to do with nature, having just eaten a light lunch, I soon feel sleepy, so put on some eye shades, and have a nap for as long as it takes, usually between 15 to 25 minutes. I have always given in to it, because being sleepy on the job isn't good! I used to keep a small camp bed in my office, that was in the days when we had a works canteen, and we could get a good cheap square meal at work!
Thank you x
If it helps I have also been taking Sominex at night, as a sleep aid. Due to an industrial accident many years ago, I have permanent upper spine pain, which can keep me awake. My GP prescribed sleeping tablets long ago, but they were too strong, and left me feeling drowsy the next day. Sominex doesn't do this, and they can be bought over the counter, but I get them prescribed as they are quite expensive. I never took them when I was working, so it wasn't Sominex that made me cat nap!
I find during the winters I seemed to, but summer time I don't... But I do feel tired most days ...
I used to sleep through the night, up to 10-11 hours and then fall asleep all the time during the day as soon as I sat down.
Doc referred me to the sleep clinic and I was diagnosed with 'severe obstructive sleep apnoea' (67 events per hour whilst asleep in bed) and low oxygen levels in my blood.
Been on a cpap machine for about 10 months and now sleep 6-7 hours per night but feel awake during the day.
Maybe ask your Doc about having a referral to the sleep clinic, they monitor your sleep for a couple of nights.
Best Wishes. Simon
