Hi all, have just got my ct results, it has been a worrying rew months for me, as was told I had scarring of both lungs by xray recently, well I got to my docters appointment to find my docter was off sick, I've not had him for long, but was looking forward to seeing him as he's so good, informative and patient-the list goes on! To be faced with a stranger, anyway, he asked why I was there, knew nothing about me so I told him, he was so flippent, it was untrue, in a short while, I'd had enough, was just after I told him I was having trouble sleeping, he gave me a note, saying co codimol and sleepeze, I could buy them at the chemist, I was fuming by then, said well I'd better get to the chemist and start dosing up on cocodimal! He coaxed me back in, I told him he seemed very flippent, so he apologised, anyway, he still didn't do a very good job and Im still left with some questions, the report says I have severe emphasemia, which is widespread with uniform distribution, says both oblique fissures are intact (?), there's a moderate defect in the medial horizontal fissure (approx 25%) (?) Mild bronchial wall thickening but no bronchiectasis, normal heart size, dilation of of the ascending aorta, biscupid, so now I have a referal for the biscupid and respiratory clinic , he said he didnt know when-no surprise there! Thanks for listening x

Wishing you well. Xxx

Sounds about right for someone with severe emphasemia some doctors just don’t care I would not worry to much

Sorry to hear the doctor you saw was so flippant, maybe when your own doctor comes back from sick leave things will be smoother. Guess when it comes to chronic health issues like we have some doctors may come across that way as there are no treatment cures. Some Gps are not so good at management of patients illnesses as others. But it does not excuse the doctor you saw for there attitude.

Sorry to hear of your experience. At our gp we occasionally get a bad appointment though the doctor in question has been quite nice to me the last few times. My son is a gp and I know he had to do training for patient /doctor relationship as I was his guinea pig during that time. Maybe not all universities have this as part of the training but it is so vital to be able to put a patient at ease and show empathy and explain conditions and the way forward. I know my son has been labelled "the people's doctor" by consultants etc so the training worked for him.

Maybe a word or a letter to the practice manager may help.
