How long
Hi
For a new claim 3 months.
Have you gone through due process. Mandatory reconsideration. Appeal process.
For a mandatory appeal, the first step after refusal is now 30 days. You need to respond quickly if you need to provide additional information, which can take a while, the DWP most of the time won't contact your medical teams - costs, the onus is on you. Also bear in mind that you may have to pay for medical letters.
Ask them to look at your case again. Get your GP or consultant to send a letter. Have they said why they said No. Go on line read up on pip and look at the points you need to achieve. Always give information about your bad days. But I would ring to find out why turned down first then you will know what you are dealing with. I went through same thing.
I would suggest you go through the reconsideration process and if that isn’t successful, proceed to the appeal stage. Many PIP appeals are successful. It is worth finding out if there is any specialist welfare rights advice in your area such as Citizens Advice or a law centre as they often know how to apply the regulations and present a case.
You can appeal straight away my granddaughter did and got her money
If you can’t get to see citizens advice have a look at a site called ‘benefits and work ‘ it has lots of great advice
