Confused about my condition
Hello and welcome Rolo I'm sure some of the great people on here will be able to give you really good advice..mental health isent a lot of fun at any time let alone when you gave breathing difficulties I'd be much the same but as they say one day at a time eh?
Hi Rolo, its always difficult when first diagnosed, but to help you manage symptoms and the slow progression, a pulmonary rehabilitation course is recommended, GP or consultant can refer you. You will after a time come to understand and manage things much better.
Mean time learn as much as you can from BLF web pages and don't hesitate to call the BLF helpline. blf.org.uk/support-for-you/...
I believe there are other groups on health unlocked dealing with mental health issues you may want to join in addition to this one. Just use the search box top right.
Best wishes Bk
Hi because of your young age I hope you have had the copd genetic test. This is only a simple blood test from your doctors but if you have this link then you need to know about it so you can access the correct treatment.
This is a well used and big site so any problems or questions just jump in and ask. We are very friendly and rarely bite. x

Hi & welcome this is a fine place to visit.
I too had a number of lung collapses before they did a treatment that involved putting talcum powder between the chest wall & lung I think it is called a pleuradesis. Unfortunately I now have very severe emphysema (not as a result)
and find everything a chore. You are at a very young age and have the opportunity of a number of treatments so do not despair. At your age you could have a lung transplant, lung reduction, lung valves, lung coils even stem cell treatments. Search these out on the web, there are various hospitals up/down the country that carry out these treatments, try also "trial" sites of which there are a number in the UK & abroad. These will often offer a quicker service and will give time slots, worth pursuing. I've tried by email & phone all around & unfortunately because I have a cancer none will consider me, but you have a good chance go for it. Lungs are very precious things that are difficult to repair and/or replace don't wast time.
