Hi just want to say hope all goes well for you. I had assessment done 9th July still waiting on decision being made. I don't know what was worse filling in the form(book) r the face to face assessment still getting panic attacks thinking about it so bad I hate to see the postman coming. Take a few deep breaths and if you need to ask for a few minutes to compose yourself all the best hope your outcome is good xx

Remember that if you are going to the assessment centre that they will be looking at you before you get into the building as they are known to use CCTV as part of their assessment. They even take into affect how long you can sit for. One of the biggist issues is we will big our selves up by saying I am okay when in fact you are not. It is human nature. Never talk about your good days say better days. Answer questions as if on your bad days. Take a look at how many aids you use to make life easier I was amazed at how many I have got now to help me do day to day tasks. If you get ready/dressed on your bed it will count only if you use a chair or stool. (New rules) They state that you cannot walk more than 20 metres you should get mobility however it is the fact that walking over that but in servere discomfort before 20 metres. If they ask you to do something you cannot do, say so, they cannot make you do anything to force you to bend etc.

My first one was many years to my last and my conditions are far worse now. Plus I was unaware of what they are marking you on etc. and did not get enough points. My last one I had a Ex nurse that knew of my conditions and knew I will not get any better but it can be kept under some sort of control. But anything I do has limits. I got Enhanced in both. My ESA on the other hand was a nightmare and took over 13 months before I got the tribunal award me support group.

Good luck

Thanks for all your tips and advice, Offcut, that's really interesting about getting mobility if cannot walk more than 20 metres, thanks for that as I have pains in my legs on some bad days, and walking is difficult.

At my PH Clinic I have to do a walk test I have not completed it yet. In the winter I am lucky if I can reach my car. Severe Discomfort is their term for doing any task that you could do but not without Severe Discomfort.

Take copies with you any medical letters you have from doc, Consultants Etc.

Hi LawH1512, I too just got a letter for my pip assessment, 20th August and I'm getting a home visit.

I didn't request a home visit and have no idea why they think it necessary to have to come to my home.

Perhaps it’s best to answer the questions just thinking / relating to your worse days?

This is great, joining this network was the best thing I've ever done, so much helpful information and it's great to know there's so many others out there in similar situation as myself. With all that you all have shared, I'm looking forward to the day of my assessment, and hoping for good result.
