As the majority of COPD sufferers are ex smokers, wouldn't it be considerate, of the tax the government get from tobacco sales be spent on a cure for this dreadful disease. They make a lot of money from the sale of Tobacco. Just a thought.

Lovely thought but unfortunately ALL tax monies go into the same collection, then distributed. Road tax was supposed to be ring fenced for roads but even that is now swallowed up into a collective tax.

Surely smokers (I was one) were heavily taxed as a disincentive and to help pay for the billions a year spent by the NHS in treating smoking related illnesses? I never felt it was wrong that my wretched habit was highly taxed. Same with alcohol!

No way the goverment needs all that money to waste thear not going to help us and lost all that money 😠
