High John645, I'm also on amitriptyline one 10mcg at night to help with pain. It does make me sleepy and help's with getting to sleep but after 6 to 8hrs it's worn of and the pain come's back but not as bad yet. Maybe you need to talk with your GP before taking more than prescribed and at different time's than you've been told.

So far I've found that in the day there is still some pain but I can put up with it better. The doctor has told me to see how I go with this dose and to go back at a later date to revue the meds.

Sorry that you are in that much pain and I hope you get it sorted soon but you do need to go back to you doctor rather than self treat with what is a strong drug.

Hi I used to take it at night. I was amazed at how such a small pill could work wonders. I was a bit groggy for a couple of days but then pain free which a cocktail of drugs couldn't shift. Hope it helps you.

I take 2 at night and it was first used for a differant problem but like a lot of drugs they found they helped other conditions as well. It is best taken at night as it is a relaxant and should help you sleep as well?

Be Well
