Ring any bells?

As we continue to get our heads around severe COPD a couple of things have come up that those sadly more experienced might be able to advise on...a) is it common to almost always feel cold, and b) any tips for dealing with 'sticky mucus'?

Thank you in advance; I'm finding this forum to be so helpful...

Hi

Having more meat on a dogs bone, I do feel the cold, or a cold draft more. But that always been the case, not increased because of COPD.

There’s is medication to help with mucus clearance, drinking plenty of water will help loosen sticky mucus. I’am only slightly bronchi, moving around helps as well, probably the deeper breathing helps to move it.

I feel the cold even when others think it is warm.

Sticky mucus can be made less sticky by drinking plenty of water and taking carbocisteine which is available on prescription for just that purpose.

Hello Pippers . 👋

My feet are perpetually cold. I wear socks even in the warm weather. I can't do much about it. As for mucus , I don't have too much problem, but occasionally if I do, I make sure I keep drinking lots of water to make it less thick. Sometimes, steam helps too, but although it may help to relieve the sticky feeling, it may increase your breathlessness.

Take good care,

Cas xx 🌹🌸

Being the odd one? I do feel the cold more than I ever did but I do not like the heat either? I also take meds to help with the sticky mucus and it has helped so much.

Hello Pippers, I suffer very severe Emphaseama and severe Bronchiectusis and as I suffer with Raynaulds Disease which is a vascular condition I'm not sure weather it's the lung problems or vascular that's responsible for cold hands and foot. The sticky mucus I take Carbasisteen tablets and find them really good for breaking down the mucus making it easier to cough up. 😊xx

Hi there, sorry to read things are not so good for you at the moment. Getting the "mucus problem" under control will most definitely help and several members have advised you on how they deal with it etc. As for feeling cold...I'm the odd one,I think as I'm forever too hot! It drives me bonkers and in the winter months,I can still be in a t -shirt and my heating thermostat only on 18°. It takes all sorts and we all react differently with this condition. I hope you can make yourself more comfortable. Best wishes.

Hi I always have cold feet and lower legs even in hot weather. Unfortunately I cannot take carbocisteine (see my previous post) x

Thank you, we'll be following up on the 'cold' problem but advice from this forum has made a big difference with mucus.
