Lung valves: Hi has anyone had lung... - Lung Conditions C...
Lung valves
I. Was ntrested in these. But. I was turnt down. I think they kind of new. And can and do work and help people better life quility where are you having done and what hos. What's your condition. PJ
Iam in Australia they have been doing this for 3 years here I will be haveing it done at the RAH in Adelaide in June I am severe copd my lung function is 40per cent oxygen is 88-92
I really hope all goes well and that it really improves your quality of life. I sure hope you will come back and tell us how the operation went and how much difference you experience as well as any problems you may experience.
Good luck and will say a prayer for you.
Thank you and I will repost with how it goes
Could not have the valves inserted as I had to much mucas on my chest so disappointed I just don’t seem to be able to cough it up never have tried everything
So Sorry to hear this, I had them done last Month. I take Carbosyteine to clear the Mucus. Speak with your Lung Consultant and Try and do the Huff Exercises. Good Luck, Hope they will reconsider you. xxx
I don’t think you can get that in Australia I’ve been using mucolytic and I’ve had packets of them with no luck .Have the valves improved your breathing
Oh Yes, immensely, had 4 inserted. Still have 02, don't need it all the time now. I carry on with Meds as Normal as I am on the Transplant List also. maybe ask GP for the equivalent of Carbosysteine, taken 3 times a day unless prescribed more often, Worked for me. Good Luck xxx
The first I heard of these was when one of our members had them fitted in 2012. You can read of his experiences here:
I live in London uk. I think these valves coils started in either holland or Germany I ve read. Of cases where. They Totally transformed. People s life's. Hope all goes well and bless you.
Thank you 😘
Hope this helps
I had these valves fitted 18 months after I had a lung reduction done I woke up from the operation my breathing was greatly improved and was sent home 24 hours later but because of my lung conditions Emphysema and COPD plus Bronchiatis my air ways get bigger through time because of this my valves started to let the air get passed them because the act has a one way valve I was probably one of the early patients to try this out but now they don’t offer it if you have certain illnesses they lasted about 3 months
I have since had the other lung reduced but came out of hospital needing oxygen ambigaturly I think you call it basically has soon has I move out of the chair I’m on it
So good luck with the procedure they wouldn’t offer it to you unless it’s going to work you will be ok
Thank you I have done a lot of test before I was told iam compatable

Hi I can't have these fitted or inserted but I met a guy who swears by this treatment method and says it has turned his life around. He can now do things that were well outside of his capability previously. Go for it .

I like Positive Comments like this, I'm having this done on 7th June. xxx
i had 4 placed in july its been almost 4 months now and i feel no improvement im hoping i will feel a difference soon.
Don’t give up hope at first I thought a waste of time but then I noticed I had a shower without struggling to breathe from then on I started to notice small changes so I decided to try and get a bit fitter started riding a stationary bike 2 mins at first now 20 mins no oxygen needed so just start to try and do things you just might be amazed at what you can achieve
