Oxygen and creams

Hi all I am on oxygen and looking for a bit of advice. Would anyone be able to suggest a reasonable water based moisturiser please? My skin is like tissue paper very dry and thin following years of steriods use. As most of you will know 99% of moisturisers contain paraffin. Which is a definite NO when using oxygen. Most chemists I have spoken to recommend KY jelly. But it doesn't work. Many thanks.

Hi, I was once given a cream that was advertised by Jennifer Aniston. It began with an 'A'. 'Aveena' or something like that. It is very expensive and I am prescribed various water-based creams that are a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, my legs haven't been too bad ( paradoxical statement 😁 ) for a while and I can't remember the names. Your pharmacist should be able to advise you. Take care.

I use Aveeno it’s the only cream that really works on my dry skin. I use the body wash, the moisturiser and the face cream.

KY jelly is good for in your nose and perfectly safe, I use daily moisturising lotion by Aveeno which quickly rubs into the skin, think it's worth a try. Good luck.

just checked my Aveeno made by Johnson and Johnson and it does list an ingredient as parriffinum liquidum then paraffin as well as aqua and glycerine. I intend trying to find out from the makers if it does contain the dreaded paraffin. I too am on oxygen and hadn't noticed it before.

Hi thank you for your replies. The pharmacist/chemists I have spoken with have all confirmed Aveeno contains liquid paraffin. So sadly no use to me because of the oxygen. I will try and contact my oxygen nurses next week. My gp had no idea the 2 creams he recommended were heavyweight paraffin based. Thank you all. Keep well. 🤔

My Hubby uses DoubleBase Gel (although it is actually a cream) prescribe by dermatologist and available on NHS. He is currently in hospital after having a really bad UTI. After two weeks let out on 26.3.18 and then back in on 30.3.18 with pneumonia! Has had two bouts of pneumonia whilst there and now has Dementia. Was normal in Jan and now losing him daily with this dreadful Dementia. Waiting for them to confirm type but most probably vascular. I did not know this horrible illness could come on so quickly. Nurses are great and they love using the Demol - for basic washing and the DoubleBase for moisturising. You should get your GP to prescribe it - it is a large bottle with a pump action.

I use an oil free moisturising day cream made by Nivea. Can't remember how much it cost but it wasn't expensive. Wilkinsons sell it. Keep smiling

This should be OK: simple.co.uk/our-products/p... or: dermalogica.co.uk/calm-wate... more expensive (but look around to find it cheaper elsewhere - I gave you this link as it lists ingredients)

Try the Body Shop products. I can't use anything on my body that has Liquid Paraffin or Lanolin. In fact you've only got to look at me and I itch. I use shea body lotion and I think they do facial products too. Sheila x

I use the collagen gel and ABC gel from SBC expensive but don't need much and it doesn't take a lot of rubbing in. You can get sachets of the products cheaply from them so you can try it out first.
