Even tho this is DATED management plan of COPD it gives us idea 💡 of what to expect WHEN we see our gp given our lung disease.
They say each patient should have a self management plan with advice on how to prevent exacerbations and actions in the event of one occurring.
Yer right 4 half years into my lung disease and am still waiting AND what’s Exacerbation.
Even a card of our GP’s the size of a stamp would been better than nout.
Having give information eyeballing I can say given my own experiences lung disease is neglected in general practice SO what dose that mean for patients.
Should not be up to British lung foundation to surply informatiin THERE should be min quality standerd.
Have a read and feel free to comment on experiences gaps you have personally experienced.
Interesting read JAS. Pete is left to self management generally but I do feel our GP surgery is supportive. I also feel though that Pete has had COPD for longer than the diagnosis in 2010 would suggest.
I have no idea what stage Pete is at and refuse to focus on that preferring to make sure he’s as well as he can be. He’s not on oxygen either.
I think that all GP’s need further training on what will be the 3rd biggest killer by 2020. Thank goodness for BLF, where would we be without them. Take care all. Xxxxx
Interesting but Irish, so not given to British GPs. Also dated 2012 so as you say bit out of date. I wonder if there is anything from the NHS. You could have great fun asking awkward questions. Hope you are keeping well and that your dad is not too bad.
I know from Persnol experanve reckless tricks these doctors get up to things in opinion have gotten a lot worse.
Awkward questions NAR Me never ... but think that’s why lung doctor recklessly discharged me changed my DX as the cant discharge you if have bronchiectasis BUT like magic hand of god I was fixed.
Still got to answer for that As was carrier of infectious disease
Well there are no docs at my practice who specialise in copd just found out one of them has just been on a course I need someone who knows what there talking about not confident at all bout this
To. Jeff. I have thought this from the very start. 11 yrs ago. Your correct. And. We are forgotten. And for most just left to get on with as best you can. Well. Iam nearing the end I hope that does not mean it's over. Now a waiting for a yea or nah. Sept. For TX. It's very complex illness and to date no cure in sight. Maybe for another 10-20 yrs but a reliever. Off a kind would and should be on the cards wonder how long it will take. What. /6/9 if lucky. Well I live in hope for all cos it. Is a f--k-- take care all. Pj
Well i must say my gp practice has a doctor who specialises in lung conditions. And a practice nurse who does annual assessments. I also have a care plan for when i am not so well. This states i prefere to be treated at home. So i think i must be lucky.
