PGA - Schmidt syndrome

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone with this collection of health issues which make up PGA. I have struggled for years with more and more issues being diagnosed and a few days ago diabetes was added to the list. Do not yet know if it is type 1 or 2. The 3 main players appear to be hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency and diabetes. I have those plus lots of other problems. I am usually quite positive but I do have shaky days sometimes.

Good luck to you all.

Just wanted to say Hello. This the Lung site for people with COPD, asthma etc. Sorry I don't know where to direct you but I wish you well in your search. I think Health Unlocked has an alphabetical list so perhaps you could start with the Thyroid group. Sheila x

Thank you for replying. The thing is I have several health issues including asthma and pulmonary sarcoidosis. I just wondered if there happened to be anyone else in a similar position with lung issues, adrenal insufficiency, hypothyroidism and diabetes. I am floundering at the moment but I will be ok in a couple of days.

Thank you again for taking the time to offer help.

If you suspect you have Addison disease refer to this text to learn more on "Early Detection and Treatment Principles". This is the single, best resource I have found for a newly diagnosed patient. You will not be disappointed by this one!

If you currently have Addison Disease and suspect your treatment could be modified for better results consult this resource.

***Pay attention to information highlighting the possible under-treatment with mineralcorticoid therapy. I have a theory that many patients are prescribed too much Glucocorticoids and not enough Mineralcorticoids. The excess GCs will mask the need for increased MCs in bloodwork. Excess GCs will cause Cushings like symptoms.

Wow swalls48. Thank you so much for your help. I shall read all the references to try and understand what has been going on for the last 32 years. BTW I already have Addison’s. Some clarity about various illnesses over the years will be great. Thank you.

Very happy to help! I find comfort in pursuing all information and knowledge regarding these diseases. I am sure you will as well. I have compiled enough resources to further your understanding beyond most doctors in the field. This can allow you to really work with your doc to find the best treatment options. You can never hold a doctor responsible for your health...you have to take charge and be your own expert. List your conditions and I will write you a brief essay in their relationship. Include your treatment profile: medications+dosages. Open for any questions and glad to review any bloodwork if you'd like...just don't post any personal info.

I am affected by the same disorder friend. I have not developed diabetes as of yet but am obviously highly predisposed. The technical description is Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome Type II (Addison+Hashimoto+Diabetes Mellitus). I posted some quality info in my other post. Let me know if you need anything or if you are interested in more info/discussion of this material. Stay on your toes with this disease...It is far too easy to go under-treated or develop complications with autoimmune disorders.
