Oh no, that’s a real shame. Sending hugs. Xxxx

The aspergillus fungus is everywhere, there's no avoiding it. As you have bronchiectasis you had a good chance of becoming allergic anyway, even more so if you also have asthma, so don't blame yourself. Unfortunately you'll have to be careful to avoid places where it lurks in quantities, if you want to minimise flare-ups, and obviously make sure there's no mould in your house. I've done quite a bit of research and am going to buy a couple of air purifiers, for living room and bedroom, partly because I'm also very allergic to dust mites.

So sorry..do you have good meds for it?

Yes maybe he will give you antihistamines as well..I don’t like them much but had to take them for years. They are effective of course.

Good luck on Monday x

Aspergillus is usually contracted from mold spores. Playing with soil is more likely to be Pseudamonis.....Norm

in reply to lungnorm

Soil, compost and rotting leaves are particular breeding grounds for aspergillus. Soil and water for pseudo. There are loads of other things which play host to both.

Hi, I hope you are ok and recover soon.

If you don't mind me asking - is this an allergy you have or a fungal infection in the lungs? And how was this diagnosed?

The reason I ask is, I have been incurring lung problems for months - and the Dr's think it could be bacterial or fungal infection but are struggling to diagnose anything and so it's still untreated. I had a blood test to detect antibodies to Aspergillosis but that was negative.

All the very best.

Good luck. I'm sure you will be ok, I'm not a Dr nor do I know much about the exact allergy test you had...but one thing I do know is that some allergy tests need to be interpreted with a bit of caution - I had allergy tests showing allergy to sesame seeds and coffee, I still eat these and seem ok! Where as if it was an antibody or antigen test showing Aspergilus in your body - then that would potentially be a different story.

I'm sure your Dr will take car of you, and explain everything to you properly.
