If you look after yourself and it sounds like your dad did, there's no reason why you can't live a long and happy life, sometimes lifestyle change and being healthy is all that's needed to manage it. He was lucky.

Your dad was diagnosed with mild emphysema. He gave up smoking and kept active - the two pieces of advice everyone is given. He had so many extra years because he followed that advice. I am pleased he lived such a long life mainly free of the signs of any disease. :)

There are plenty of older members here who have lived similar spans of life with COPD. This is why it is so important not to give up when first diagnosed.

As for naming these Members this is something that only individual Members can do. Some folk put this info in their Profiles but many don'the fill in their details.

Regards, Rib

I still say he didn't have emphysema .the doc in 1973 said he had a patch on his lung .he had pneumonia age 29 could this have been the damage on his lung ?
