Hi Deb. Have you been diagnosed with a particular lung condition? There are lots of numbers attached to most of them so you would have to say what the number 67 represents. Welcome to the forum.

It looks like you are in the earlier stages of COPD. With good management you can slow progression right down. I remember your first post now. Try to relax. Anxiety will have a much worse effect on your breathing than COPD will at this stage. Have a merry Christmas. :)

Yes. Anxiety is the killer. Luckily I seem to have got a handle on it recently. Yoga’s good

Deb the lung function is shown as FEV1 so if the figure 67 is beside yours then that is your lung function. Depending on what info you read on the net this will put you either in the bottom of the mild stage or the very top of the moderate.

Don't get hung up on numbers though as the most important thing is how you feel. You are still the same person as you were before your diagnosis so just get on with your life. Mrsmummy is so right in saying that anxiety can have a huge effect on your breathing so try to calm down a bit. If you are finding this too hard then maybe a visit to your doctor is called for to ask for some anxiety meds? x

Hi, in my experience I would go with what Hypercat and the previous posts have said.

Do not become obsessed with numbers and scores, COPD is not good to gauge like that and really cannot be. There is no stand alone score or test that would tell you where you are at.

It is important not to get really anxious about it as also said but to seek as much expert help and advice to best learn how to slow progression. Education has got to be key with COPD because it is so subjective. I care for my Mum and her symptoms and condition changes every flare up!

There is lots of good people here with tons of experience of every aspect of this so you can avoid going through some if not all of the health service’s quirky ambiguous treatment of patients!

And if that makes no sense now, it probably will!

Have a good Xmas and take care

Phil
