Congratulations. If you have any specific questions then do please contct the helpline and speak to one of the BLF nurses. They are avaiable during office hours on 03000 030 555.

Congratulations on your wonderful news, stargazer, how exciting! Many people with quite serious lung problems have successful pregnancies & healthy babies. Obviously you'll have to be carefully managed. and not put on much weight etc. My chest was dreadful in my 30's, so I was on prednisone throughout pregnancy &several courses of antibiotics. The GP explained the slight risk of taking these drugs was less than the risk to the baby of me becoming very ill by NOT taking them. Daughter was born at 37 weeks (which counts as full-term) and just slightly under 7lb in weight, perfectly healthy.

Hi there. I have lifelong bronchiectasis but thought that this may cheer you up. I had my first pregnancy and birth in Beirut in 1972, nice pregnancy, 30 minutes labour, very swift delivery. Baby fit and furious. Second pregnancy began in Beirut but gave birth in England at 7 months after leaving my Beirut house in a tank due to the civil war. I was hospitalised in England for three weeks before I gave birth because I was exhausted and kept going into labour. Again an easy delivery at 37 weeks. one lot of antibiotics during the pregnancy. The baby was a little bit smaller than his sister, 6 pounds 6 ounces and has been a pilot now for 17 years. I’m sure that you will be fine as you have access to good care. Enjoy your pregnancy and look firward to your lovely babyxx

Congratulations, wonderful news. I am a lifelong chronic bronchitic, with low lung function. I have three children, all born at full term, all three a good weight and healthy. I had antibiotic injections post delivery(just to be on the safe side) oxygen was available in the delivery room again as a precaution.

I did have three miscarriages, but they were unrelated to my lung disease. I loved being pregnant and having my children, I hope you have as much pleasure and wish you a happy and successful pregnancy. Keep well and take good care of yourself
