Off work again!

So the infection raises its head again! Went to drs last night and this time got 14 days of antibiotics she only gave me 7 last time! The thought of a full day at work today was making me panic I was literally exhausted yesterday and I only work until 3pm on Tuesdays. So this morning I have been looking for alternative work where I could maybe control my own hours a bit more. I’ve come across a franchise doing cooking classes for kids that looks really interesting as I currently run cooking classes in the school I work in. How do other people cope if you are still in work? I feel awful through the winter as I end up having so much time off!

Sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly Knicho, though not surprised. 7 days of antibiotics does not comply with present guidelines for bronchiectasis. The guidelines state 14 days.

Good idea to rethink your working situation and I hope it all works out well for you.

Hope you feel better soon.

love cx

I think I need to stop trusting that the gp knows best and start telling them what I need which is what I did this time!

"I’ve come across a franchise doing cooking classes for kids"

To my mind, you are heading in the right direction, by being self-employed. You will have a lot more flexibility to be able to work at your own pace. But being self-employed can also require heavy duty self-discipline and commitment.

"How do other people cope if you are still in work?"

I have a small engineering business and work full-time but it does take determination and a lot of will power to get through each day, but I am used to it, after 31 years. The last time I had to take time off sick was 14 years ago due to a work accident when I cut off the end of my finger, I took 2 days off then.

I was diagnosed with severe emphysema about 18 months ago and in that time had two chest infections. I managed to continue working (and light exercising) through both of those. I am not sure how long I can continue working, but it does keep me active, which is all to the good and keeps 2 others in full time work too.

Best of luck in finding something suitable, work-wise. Don't rush into anything, and take your time to think things through first.

Thank you very wise words! Good to hear how long you have been working and how you manage day to day. I’m not going to rush into anything but it makes me feel better that there are options out there if I need to go down that route.

Know how you feel, I'm on course 5 of antibiotics and steroids over 6 weeks and it is really draining me big time.

Crikey that sounds terrible! Bet you are exhausted! This time of year is always bad for me it seems to be the change in temperature I think. Hope this course does its job for you!
