My state in USA, number 1 for deers running out in front of your vehicles. Pennsylvania. Number 2 is West Virginia. Just a new fun fact they put on todays news today as this is peak season.

deer o deer... that is sad.. have you got more deers then the other states or is there another reason?

Hi ub40,There's alot of deers. I have woods by me and see them up there all the time,in my yard,walking in parking lot. In one community they had a call or cull where they lure them in then kill them as they are saying they hitting into too many cars and eatting their gardens meaning flowers. I totalled my car in the mountains going to see a friend. It was bad. Just this morning a young boy on way to school driving hit a deer veered and lost control and over hill and was killed. We have fields,woods,mountaines,the Appalachian trails! Yes our state is probably up there if not the most! They only gave stats on the state with cars hitting deer as they do jump out of no where. And this our peak season up til December. October seems the worst though. In spring,they eat every bud off your flowers. I dont care. They don't eat certain ones and I make flower pots of them near my front door! I live about 40 minutes from hunting permitted areas. But its not in season. I hate it but understand true hunters. Not jerks out there with their guns. Killing. We have someone on news yearly with hunting accidents. Last year was a new hunter young boy killed by accident. People are hoarders of deer meat and violate laws and stuff. My dad hunted but he followed rules and taught my son. My son loves to make deer jerky. I personally don't eat deer meat. I have photos of deers and they truely are my favorite woodland animal. They are delicate,they are beautiful. Sadly they carry lyme diseased tics and if you sit out back walk through woods,your probably going to have to do tick check. I pulled one off of me other day. And one was on my sons dog once on a visit! Was petting her head and felt something like a pimple it was a tick. So they warn us to dress appropriately if in areas high in deers! They all over and still hot here. I love them anyways.

You're lucky. Venison is quite an expensive meat here in the UK. As long as they are not an endangered species and thrive. But a shame that they cause so much damage though.

My son and his son love it (venison) I will make it but won't eat it. Venison high in purine which is a no no for people with gout. I don't have it ...just a lil info on deer meet. Its good only in moderation like anything else Grayjay

Grayjay awe that hurts. Watch out for aged cheeses wine venison foods rich in purine. Are you on allopuranol idk spelling but i remember learning this many years ago. Theres probably new med for gout but idk?. Its called beware of the kings diet as kings ate goods rich in purine and too much causes gout.

Yes I take Allopurinol daily, it's a Godsend. As you say it's very painful to say the least. I just watch what I eat and drink,still have it but in moderation. But the main cause according to my doctor is some of the other meds that I take. You can't win.

Yes that happens from other meds too. Your dr is correct! Your right you can't win. But most people i knew with gout were on that and said the same as you its a Godsend!

That would leave a dent in your car! When I lived in Scotland, we used to get a lot of kamikaze pheasants. Great for the table, and if too badly damaged, good enough for the cats and dogs.

My dad use to go phesant hunting. I do like that to eat. The person said giving the deer story that the average cost is 5000 in damage Ergend.
