Jefff.on your eventual return to the planet earth can you please explain who jane thingy bob is and to her relevance to this new £10 note, sorry i don't get out much!....skis
That will be Jane Austen then - one of the country's most famous authors. Pride and prejudice, sense and sensibility to name a couple of her most popular books.
I'm a fan of Jane Thingymybob. She's being talked about on the Beeb this morning.
Jane Austen on the £10 pound note. She was a gret novelist in the 18th century wrote "Sense and Sensability" "Pride and Predjustis" among her 6great novels. Her books were mainly about the Gentry. A few movies made and TV series. I think Anthony Hopkins played in some.
Hi Jeff, thanks for update did not know tenners were changing or that Jane thingy bob was on the front But had a laugh while trying to fathom it out. You are right too how can blind tell the difference they look the same size as a fiver Oh and on the subject of updated currency, the new pound is good for poor sighted however it does not fit in the pound coin holders that many arthritic people use. Always a hitch to change
Toy town money for a Mickey Mouse world JAS. I don't think Jane thingy Bob would have approved at all. I prefer paper money too, the fivers are far too slippery and you make a good point about the blind not being able to tell the difference.
Hi Jeff, I do wonder how many people actually like reading Jane thingy bob's old fashioned and repetitious books or really watch the TV adaptions in the hope of seeing another Mr Darcy emerging from his lake in a wet shirt.
Jas,You now have enough background info on Jane thingy bob to be the new arts and literature correspondent for BBC 2,but you will have to give up your job at the treasury first.good luck mate
Hi Jeff an update on the new tenner, apparently they are busy putting blobs on them for blind to recognise they are a tenner and not realeasing them till next week I am informed today.
Oh so these new tenners are the same size as the fivers? My partner is blind (and after living in the UK for 13 years) is still confused about currency...this won't help matters much. Guess we'll all adjust...
