Beautiful garden, beautiful view - so sad it couldn't be saved.

The before and after are astonishing Owen and it makes me angry that your thoughts and comments were not taken into consideration. You should get compensation from the Construction Company.

Take care xxxxxx

I feel for you Owen. It would be some comfort it they were building homes for the ordinary person, but not for wealthy ones. That's obscene.

what a nightmare. I guess mine is going to look like that soon.

How awful.

They talk about the march of progress BUT it is so hard to witness the destruction of beautiful countryside. I have memories of roaming (and trespassing) of fantastic countryside that had everything to give me a free childhood with great memories. Now big housing estates and an Asda, sad, sad,sad xxx

What a lovely garden you had Plumbob, your wife looks after you well, as does my hubby for me. Xx

The first picture is gorgeous, a little haven of peace. I'm so very sorry about losing it and sending support waves to you and yours to get through it. Fantastic bit of topiary, is that your handiwork? P

Hi Peege - I did topiary about seven years ago though my wife looks after it now. She does a good job with garden but the Topiary is starting to look like the leaning tower of Pisa !! Think she tilts her head when cutting it -PS please don't tell her otherwise she'll stand on my tubes !!!!! LOL

I used to have a view of trees too, now just a brick wall with windows.

At the same time my youngest daughter hasn't a hope of affording a house as prices are so high as are rents, in the area where she works.

It's a dilemma.

That is just sickening. There has to be a compensation claim there.

Plumbob profile image
Plumbob in reply toBilliejean_2

Unfortunately not you can't claim for views or light the only possible claim is against the Highways Agency for noise but that's after completion !!!!

:(

You might have lost your lovely view, Plumbob, but you will still have a beautiful garden. Have you seen the plans for where the new houses will be? There might be a chance of having someone's beautiful garden on the other side of that fence in time.

Unfortunately Don they are re-routing the main road into the village to just the other side of the fence !!! I fought against this for so long as who has heard of a main road going through a new 'open plan' development, and the new road is narrower than the existing road which has nothing wrong with it !! There is no logic to it ???

What a awful shame, you had such a beautiful view. Yes we all know there is a housing crisis but please look at the amount of empty homes boarded up, our inner cities and councils have. I presume that the houses being built on the edge of your garden are for the wealthy, do they have to put so many social housing on a development these days? So sad ☹️

Sorry to hear we had a similar site for 2 houses to the right of our garden, screened by trees. I must admit they have added one good neighbor and we soon forgot about it.The new owners erected a 6 foot fence 18 inches outside our border and I put s few cutting's from my virginia creeper so we have privacy again. So try and turn it round, your less likely to be burgled and you may get great neighbors. I have an elderly lady on the left and after my first wife died she would come round when i was out and collect the washing off the line, returned the following day all ironed.. I hope your lucky .

It was the views and love of the countryside / wildlife that made us purchase the House Mikefa and burglary or almost any crime is very low around here -We are lucky in that respect.

But the main thing for me is that the view I've got now which I can't escape from as I'm practically house bound. Is the view I have for the rest of my life, unfortunately I won't live long enough to see the project completed, and the dust is going to assist in my early departure :(
