Got a letter last week from DWP to say the doctor they sent me to for my asbestos lung disease is putting me at 55% disabled but said it will get worse !, so awarded industrial disablement benefit , But then get a letter from the same DWP to turn me down for PIP saying they only think i'm 2 % disabled with my chest , they ignored all the letters from the chest consultants and also ignored themselves awarding me 55% ????? I'm very confused at a time i'm waiting to go in for a biopsy to find out why m asbestos thickening is getting worse ,

PIP awards are not based on how ill/disabled you are but on how this illness/disability affects your day-to-day living. If you find it is limiting you then do speak to CAB and immediately put in an appeal. There is more detailed help here:
Just one word - Appeal. Many of these decisions get overturned on appeal so make sure you go for this.
Absolutely appeal as mentioned above.. I appealed 3 times before getting mine.. I don't know if it's different in the US or not..Best of luck to you..
Is disgrace this % thing .. Is only to rip you off.
Take your letters to mp and phone pip people and say your data information you hold on me is incirect and your getting intouch with information commisioner re breach of data protection act.
Keep original letters and always have copies and send in post signed for always
Definitely appeal and you may find it helpful to enlist the help of a benefits expert from CAB, Welfare Rights or DIAL.
Good luck. Please let us know how you get on.

Don't give up keep trying
As mummy says, it's about how it impacts daily living not about how disabled you are. Amputees are a classic example; lose both legs but you can still cook, feed yourself, toilet yourself etc so (in the eyes of the fools in charge) you are NOT disabled!!! I am registered disabled but, even though lungs are at 53% no account is taken of the COPD because it doesn't stop me doing "daily living" things (whereas the arthritis does!)
Look at the questions, forget the percentage, and consider how it stops you doing the things they ask about (and get some help from the CAB or Disability Rights in your area)
Good luck
Go for a appeal trust me took me three years to get awarded it was then dwp doctors help see if they can write a letter for u but I would keep all corespondent safe
Hi 👋 I have been on ESA for 8 years and never failed a medical until now 😞 I am currently appealing and have been told I have a good chance of getting it back as they are refusing everybody at the minute! Keep pushing and get as much evidence from doctors as you can !
Good luck 🙂
