Hello and welcome, I myself have just applied for pip but not sure what to expect. I have been told by lots of people that you have to be careful with your answers and they watch everything you do. Hope this helps. Please keep posting 😊 xx Bernadette

A number of people with COPD have successfully claimed PIP. Normally the questions asked would be concerning your husband's ability to care for himself, what care he requires, also his mobility the distance he can safely walk, his ability to climb stairs etc. If you go on to the DWP website and look at examples of descriptors and how points are awarded it will give you a better idea on how points are awarded. There are many issues with PIP and they keep moving the goal posts in regard to abilities etc. Best advice is to be honest and describe both his best and worst days when answering questions. Never give a yes or no answer. for example can he get up Stairs? Yes and then go on to explain he can only do it once safely but on a bad day he sleeps downstairs because he cannot get up them.

The best thing to do is get help filling in the form I used the CAB as they know the right words to use.

Hello Eve, welcome to the site. I am too old for PIP, so I can't help you much. Just wanted to say hello. X

Hi. My husband had a assessment for pip three weeks ago. I requested a home visit. Which they agreed to. A lovely young lady came to the house. I had all medications out and she could see nebuliser. She said she didn't need to see meds as we had already sent a copy. Asked how far he could walk and did some upper body exercises. Asked him to bend down and touch his toes which was impossible as it compresses his lungs. Did he manage to socialise which is hard as he is deaf from the three days a week antibiotics he takes. Asked about showering and personal care. A week later got the brown envelope. Enhanced mobility and standard living allowance. This is for five years. Regards
