I am on a maintenance dose of pred.....one 5mg tablet a day, which is increased if I have an exacerbation.

I am allowed one packet of 28 a month

What dose are you taking.....do you have to get a new prescription every week

Thanks Knitter for getting back to me....I'm not "on a dose", I have to decide whether I'm having a flare up, take 30mg daily for a week and stop. Preds are on my repeat prescription so I can help myself if I had a mind to! Other mess are spiromax x2, twice and Eklira X11, twice daily---+ sabutamol of course. Think I will self appoint a maintenance of 5mg! Thanks-and take care.

Ps: I'm 77 and diagnosed two years: gp is still guessing I believe.

Hi Ian.......please please don't take a daily maintenance dose without professional medical advice. My consultant prescribed them for me.....I have to have calcium tablets as my bones are thin, and I have damaged my spine....lots of side effects.

And now I am dependent on them.

The dose I am on does not stop exacerbations either.

It seems odd to take 30mg for a week and then stop. Pete used to take 30mg each day for years and then the dose was gradually reduced. He now takes 10mg each day ongoing. Hope you get things sorted soon. Xxxxxx

If you take steroids for longer periods your body stops producing as it should. Please take medical advice about dosages.

Thank you for this. I shall do so, of course.

Am aware of the adrenaline issue.
