I think your husband is right. Anxiety causes Adrenalin to be produced in your body and sure as eggs are eggs that will cause your heart-rate to increase, try and relax, think happy thoughts like being on holiday lying on a beach soaking up the sun and stop worrying. Being in hospital, in strange surroundings can be stressful for anyone, so it's not surprising that you had an occasionally high BPM, the doctors are probably just playing safe in monitoring it.

Please don't worry, it's the worst thing you can do. Having a Holter Monitor for 24 hours is very common practice, and not a bit scary. I've had one, which showed up ectopic beats (which are harmless).

Good luck. I hope that everything goes well and that you can stop worrying!

You don't sound pathetic at all. I have white coat Hypertension, so when anyone medical takes my BP, it's sky high. When I take it at home it's on the low side! Don't be afraid to tell them how anxious you feel. Many people do, it's normal! 😊😊😊

Stay calm 250267 and you will be ok. Pete has worn a heart monitor before with no problem. Take care. Xxxx

Hi there !

Please don't worry, easier said than done I know. I've recently had a heart monitor fitted, which showed a heart flutter, known as atrial fibrillation, very common apparently. I'm now on treatment and feel so much better. Hope all goes well for you.

Take care

Wendy.

Hospitals are not the best place to keep the heart at a steady beat but the monitors are not a problem. I agree with what has been said worrying will only make it worse. I have had a number of different monitors attached to me from time to time. Better to confirm all is okay than worry?

Without knowing what they want to look at is difficult. I have angina, AF and Tachycardia each can have a differant application to it. Heart conditions are being treated well now and have improved treatment every year.

I had a heart monitor for 48 hours last year. They just put four sticky pads about the size of a plaster on the front of my body with wires in them that connected to the monitor which I wore on my body. I could sleep easily with it. After the 48 hours I was told to post it back to the hospital in a jiffy bag, although if your hospital is local to you you may be asked to take it back. I was not told that anything was wrong with me even though I have pulmonary hypertension.
