Hi have you been to the doctors and got a diagnosis yet? If not you need to go and see what they say. If you have lung problems there are various inhalers you can use which will help you breathing but they are only available on prescription. x
There are some of us, who can't run 10 metres, never mind 10k
But obviously you need to see your doctor and get the most appropriate meds for your condition.
I wish i can walk never mind run 10k
I cant even walk to my front door with out taking ventolin
That goes for me too David12
I do a 10k run everyday. ..... in the car to work pmsl
Hi Spacetron
If you are still capable of trying , or are able to run a fair distance, you obviously keep yourself fit and exercise, which is good.
If you are now finding a change to how you normally feel, the only person who can help diagnose and give you appropriate medication for your condition is your doctor.
Nobody on here can possibly say what you may have, as there are so many heart and lung illness that can cause breathlessness.
I would see your GP asap.
We are always here with support and advice should you need us.
Good luck
x
There are other reasons why you could be getting breathless, lack of b12 is one of them.
I did a trek to Tibet in 2015 March , by July 2015 diagnosed with ILD 😟
You must get checked out it could be lungs or heart.
I was always slightly breathless running and eventually diagnosed with mild emphysema. I cannot run anymore and my dream is to go back running. But the best advice I had was going to pulmonary rehabilitation. They gave me great excercises and I now just do the gym. I am mild enough to not have medication. I want that in reserve if I get worse.
4 years ago, I had a pulmonary collapse and when I came to a week later, I was 25 lbs lighter and weaker than a kitten..., not a muscle left.
Now, I'm infinitely better and while I'll never run a marathon (I never did before so why would I now), my breathing and muscle tone are still improving so that it's noticeable every 6 months or so.
Of course, I've cut out several habits that were a drain on my system: smoking, drinking alcohol and heavy, 'gumpy' food. I don't drink colas (never have, so it's not something I've recently forsaken) and increase my exercise week by week. I've joined a "rehab class", something I should've done much earlier and just continue trying to improve physically; ( improving mentally is not worth the trouble).
I'm 73, generally fit except for the lung problem and that has much improved..., but, at times, it's been the farthermost from easy one can imagine. However, as the old saying goes, "Perseverance Furthers".
Salude !!!
2 years ago...no ...I couldn't run 10k or I think walk it ..dodgey knees....I think I could swim it as i use to swim 20 or more lengths mostly 2 or 3 times a day..I think it was close to a 100 feet in length ..but it wasn't in a race so it was a relaxing time...can't do that now as I don't have a 100 foot swimming pool 20 feet outside my front door.
I do still swim....it's aways a bit of a struggle in the the frist 2 or 3 lengths ...but then it gets easyer to breath as your lungs are forced to work and open up.....
Try swimming see how you get on.
Andy.
Hi , You must go to a doctor - the sooner you get treatment the better chance of holding it at least where it is . I was a regular skier - mountain bike - and 6- 8 mile walks - found my problem 3 year ago - still holding at where i was on diagnosis
I found I had Af - Then developed I P F . Hope you don't have these ,but treatment sooner the better , John
