Hello, Bammersmommy, and welcome to the site. I had to look up Charlie horses as I hadn't come across the term before. It must feel awful getting lung spasms in your chest muscles. The closest I have are sore rib muscles where the diaphragm connects, and my osteopath showed me how to ease those. Which part of your lungs is affected?
Good morning Bammersmommy ,
I had to look it up too. Muscle spasms....no I haven't that I know of but it says they are painful so I think I would know. Hopefully someone will come along shortly and be able to offer you some advice
Hi there; yes I used to get muscle spasms. They are not actually in the lungs though as there are no pain receptors there. When I coughed all the time, I used to spasm under my right breast; in my neck And sometimes in my hands. It's infection & strain in the connective bits and I had a slipping rib. It's very painful & scary. I hope you get it cleared up. Take care Margaret x
I get them under my right breast too Margaret. Oh that coughing drives me nuts. Seem to cough, cough and more cough. A very dry cough.
Keep well.
Love Suzyxxx
Hi Bammersmommy yes I do. Sometimes so bad I sit here shouting "ouch" every time I get one.

Hi Bammersmommy,
I too have a cramping, often a biting or stinging pain at the bottom underside of my rib cage on both sides and around the chest. It comes and goes but at random for now after hard coughing or exertion. I asked my docs about it last week and for me it isn’t severe enough but to watch for now. With my COPD progressing, I didn’t want to wait for my 90 day follow up.
With that said, Please get it checked out sooner than later if you haven’t yet.
While there aren’t any pain receptors in the lungs, there are many throughout where the lung tissue attaches to the thin membrane around them and the chest cavity. The doctors said mine wasn’t pleurisy being it would hurt much, much worse when breathing in deeply. I don’t have pneumonia being my lungs are clear. I’m not bad off enough or old enough to get anything beyond an x-ray (heath care is getting tougher in the states). So for now I am to monitor it and if my pains get worse take further action.
