Cough
I do the breathing exercises taught by the hospital's physiotherapist. That seems to get rid of most of the mucous and that is what causes me to cough. I too have bronchiectasis, diagnosed about seven years ago. I was told only to cough to remove mucous, not always possible, but I bear it in mind and use fishermans friends as soothers quite often. nattyu I also have a persistant cough I take a teaspoon of honey and plenty of water x
I too have Bronchiectasis with the horrible cough that clears a shop. I found that a drop of eucalyptus on a handkerchief works wonders one in each pocket,( put up to your nose helps too). Ha ha
I have managed to curb it since being diagnosed, but it took a long time for Dr to understand, just what it is like, having to curl up in a ball with legs crossed.
I don't get that bad now I am on the right medication
Wish you well with the right meds

Hi
I also have bronchietasis . My cough was terrible and very embarrassing. However since I have been on Azithromycin it has been so much better.
The important thing is to cough it up! Otherwise it gathers in the lungs and becomes infected. I have three clear-out sessions a day - first thing in the morning, lunchtime and just before bed. It seems to do the trick and haven't had an infection for two years (touch wood). Good luck.
I have down loaded a brochure from chss.org.uk very good information
