Hi
IPF and Emphysema are to different conditions
nhs.uk/conditions/pulmonary...
I have the same as you and IPF when I asked what it meant the specialist Respitary Nurse told me a team of around 8 professional staff look at all the tests , scans etc of your lungs and make the diagnosis of IPF which means no known cause for the scarring. I have never had pneumonia to my knowledge and the consultant said it could be anything such as environment, allergies something in your body that keeps damaging the lungs which there is no cure. Hope you get your answers Richard. On the bright side ask about the latest drugs there trying and new ones in a couple of years.
I am having similar issues I have multiple condition and they effect me in different ways. I have been told I have emphysema and fibrosis which was due to a major infection that meant bleeding in my lungs leaving the scars and restrictive lung issues. I get bouts of pneumonia even though I have the jab every 5 years. One of my GP's summed it up by saying all in all you have crap lungs which they need to decide what condition is the most important and work back from that?
