Pneumonia: Day 19 out of hospital.

Airways still feel greatly irritated when I breathe, especially by cold air. Still huffing and puffing. Any exertion ends up with pains in my back. I think I may have overdone it a bit. Looks like I'm back to see the doctor on Monday.

Sorry you're still struggling, but not really surprised. It takes time - three weeks isn't that long. It's all quite difficult - we're told we must exercise but not to overdo it. So what does that mean?!

Don't breathe cold air at the moment - a soft scarf wrapped round will do the trick. Breathe through your nose if you can.

I think what you're really saying is that you still feel awful. Might there be a bit of a chest infection? It does look as though you'll be back to the doctor on Monday because it's best to get things checked. In the meantime, take rests, drink plenty and warm drinks are good, and hang on to positive thoughts if you can.

Be well soon, Sue. x

hope you get sorted at the doctors and are feeling better soon , I have never had pneumonia touch wood I never do , I have emphysema cold air isn't good always feel like my lungs are burning in cold and frosty weather , it helps if you can put a scarf over your mouth and nose if your out side it helps warm the air before you breath it in , you can buy ones that motorbikers wear they are only couple pounds on ebay and are thin so it don't feel so suffocating as a thick woollen scarf ,

It depends on what type of pneumonia you had. Most people are immunised with a jab for bacterial pneumonia but, sadly that does not help with the "viral" strain which can affect other organs of the body.

I had the viral version and was truly ill and the recovery took a full twelve months. Do take things easy and only do what you can to build your strength back up.

Good luck and best wishes for a speedy return to good health.

Hi. Thanks for your advice. I have no idea yet just what was the cause of my bout of pneumonia. The hospital took blood and a sputum test but I've not been given the results yet. I will have to check with my gp. 😆
