Went to hospital yesterday for lung function test, so frustrated, she wouldn't tell me the results, she did say they were low and that the ventolin she gave me didn't make a difference, feel so tired and got yellow/green flem. ?

You must be feeling quite down! We need to know what's going on and what tests show. Have you got another appointment at the hospital when they might discuss the results? I think that no improvement after ventolin means it isn't asthma - but could be wrong.

If you're really tired and are coughing up green stuff perhaps go to your GP because you could have a chest infection. That would affect your lung function tests.

Hope you feel better soon. x

At docs tom, think I'm just feeling sorry for myself, thank you

I am sorry you are feeling poorly. It sounds as if you have some infection. Did you tell her what you were coughing up? I don't know why they keep your results so close to their chests. Do you have a rescue package? If not, go and see your doctor is my advice, but I am fairly new to all this so maybe someone else will have a better answer for you.

Hope you will feel better soon. x .

I understand the misery. We are all there sometimes. Keep away from any jobs that can wait, and rest. Let us know how you get on at the doctors :-)

A chest infection will explain your breathlessness when you're doing things. It'll get better with the right treatment. x

Hi yellow or green phelm means a chest infection so no wonder you feel so tired and down. Are you on ab's and/or steroids?

If you want to know the results (some don't) demand them. They have no right to withhold them, after all it's your body. x

Hi Angel

Looking at your first post ( only 2 mos. ago) you were 67%. Thats not bad at all.

Does sound like you have a chest infection. Good luck with your appointment.

Forgot to say that a brilliant nurse I spoke to on the BLF Helpline said you shouldn't have lung function tests done within six weeks of a chest infection. That means if everyone here is right and you have got one it will adversely affect your results, and they may not really be as low as they were when you were tested - if you see what I mean!! Good luck.

Well said Watfordgirl. I'm surprised they even did the LFT if there were signs of a chest infection.

Take a sputum specimen to GP and tell them you want it tested! My antibiotics have been changed on more than one occasion because of this. Chin up!

If you have an infection then it may be a problem with the test and another should be arranged when you are clear, would seem like a good idea?

AT my GP Test the nurse would not tell me a thing but the hospital one they informed me straight after the test on what they found and the consultant will add to this with the xrays etc.

I was the same with the ventolin which proved I had RLD as there was no change. They expect to see approximately a 10% difference before and after.

This explains the differance.
