You can't stop it progressing but you can slow it down. If you smoke STOP.

Change to a healthy diet and exercise.

Lots of exercises on youtube. Search pulmonary exercises.

Also google copd diet, lots of things we should not be eating like bacon, ham, pizzas etc.

If you are not taking vitamins, start. Every morning i juice raw vegetables and add to a blender with mountains of fruit, no cold or flu for over 5 years.

I also now take a multivitamin, Q10 and Turmeric paste.

When I was diagnosed stage 2 moderate COPD in mid Jan 16, I discussed exercise with my doctor, I do body combat and indoor cycling (spinning) 4 times a week, I have noticed a little reduction in my effort, but the doctor told me to carry on and work as hard as I can each time.

I'm looking into Turmeric paste, and have starting blending each morning fresh fruit with superfoods added in too, can you add the turmeric paste to your smoothie?

Also have bought a dehumidifier to regulate the moisture content in the air in our house, I spoke to the doctor this week and he has told me that unless I have a turn for the worse, then he does not want to see me until mid May, so far he has not prescribed me any medication.

Cheers

Mark

Hi As we age lung function deteriorates, that's normal.

COPD can't be reversed but opinions are divided as to whether it can be stopped - the problem being even if its progress was stopped, normal age related lung deterioration will continue.

Deterioration can be slowed by the usual suspects.. regular exercise, ideal weight, avoid contaminants, eat healthily, don't smoke, avoid colds & flu (get the jab) establish the right medication..(which can be easier said..) and take it .

Hello Douglas. I remember when I was first diagnosed with COPD. I thought I didn't have long for this world. However, three years later I am still going strong with medication, and have good and bad days.

You can slow up the illness by your life style. You should ask your health professional

for information on this. There is quite a lot of literature on the subject.

I wish you well and above all, don't worry. You probably have many years ahead of you.

Thank you Sherry44, I have just been given another inhaler to take every 24 hours so hopefully that will help

Totally agree with this, for the sake of a few ££££ on a dehumidifier and the electric, if it aids living a normal life then it is worth it

Hi. I was diagnosed 4 years or so ago, and was told it was mild and not to worry bout it! I am now starting to become much more breatless. I had spent the 4 yers just worrying constantly about it. I am now researching cannabis oil, and although it looks too good to be true, it is worth a try. I am in the uk and will have to buy seeds (which is not illegal in this country), but then I will have to grow them and process them so I can get the oil which is most definitely is illegal. Im confused about the type of seeds as there is so many- but anything has to be worth a try doesnt it?

Not what you're looking for?
