Hi to all those who are on there own on Christmas Day. Please don't feel lonely, I for one will be spending Christmas afternoon on HU chatting to anyone who wants a chat. From whichever community.

We could maybe swap, stories, jokes, poems, good book ideas etc. Anything that interests you will also interest me.

Thank you Babs for that lovely offer, I will be going out myself but understand what it is like to be alone on Christmas day. Spending Christmas eve night and Christmas morning riding for the Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes then the rest of the day with my family. Looking forward to a fulfilling Christmas helping those in need and then relaxing.

Yeah I am originally from Sedgley but moved to Dawley near Telford (I hate the association with Telford) 4 years ago.

Well I was born in Audlem, Cheshire - brought up in Market Drayton ( Shropshire) College for three years in Crewe, taught in Hinstock ( Shropshire again ) for two years then married my Husband who was in the RAF & from then on lots of moves, finally settling in West Wales for the time being. Helen.

How I agree with you! The worst scenario would have been if the original name proposed for Telford was Dawley New Town had been adopted if you remember! The new town that split close communities into pieces. I still have friends in beautiful Shropshire who refuse to put Telford post code on their correspondence.

hi there thank you i'm only my own and enjoy chatting to lovely people not just on Christmas day but every day, it day of the year is lonely when your on your own, doesn't that needed to be something that we should think of, not just one day a year, sorry if this doesn't sound nice but i just wonder why anyone will think of someone on one day of the year. many thanks i'll be there for anyone, any day, anytime, but to you my friend i'll be there for you. Hi bigalan. Thanks for joining our party. I am on HU every day at some stage and always ready for a chat. I am trying to put ideas out there to get in the mood for a natter and a laugh. I intend to reminisce about things we got up to 50 odd years ago. I also have some great poems and funny stories which some may have heard already as they have been posted at some stage.

I'm sure we will all enjoy our virtual, party and the odd glass of sherry?

hi Babs what a beautiful name Babs i like it, thank you for letting me join your group, i'm only my own so its nice to be with someone even if its for a chat, i'm on here most of the day unless i need to pop to sleep in the afternoon not very often but just after coming out of hospital yesterday i'm trying to catch up with my sleep, since i haven't had any since friday morning when i woke up by friday night i was in hospital with a blocked lower abdomen that nearly cost me my life. so i'm just grateful to my friends on here to keep me going for the next two weeks, to be honest these are the only two weeks out of the year i hate, being on my own for last 14 years, my family haven't spoken to me for that long, its no happy time for me so for another of not celebrating Christmas and as for new year for me is just the same as this year only with a different number. sorry for moaning, i'll be here any day and every day answering posts and sending them out. take care all the best speak to you again your friend Alan xx

So sorry to hear you have been hospitalised with such a serious condition. I hope they have made you better. You will need plenty of rest, so loads of time to come on and have a chat!!!!

Can you not email your family just to wish them a Merry Christmas - offer the olive branch - I know it maybe not your fault you have all fallen out but honestly Alan, as you know, only to recently, that life's too short.

If you join our party, you've got to bring a bottle and a party piece!!!!

hi Babs they won't even return a text message and its been like it for 14 years so i've gave up, i know life is short, i nearly lost mine twice before, first in 97 when i had my appendix's out that nearly killed me then and this week end just gone, their's no point in wasting a phone call or a text message, i would never here from them, so i don't bother now, if that's how they want to be that's there problem not mine, the door is still open, they got my number if they can't return a message why should i bother, even my own daughter doesn't speak to me since me and her mum divorced 14 years ago so i'm used to being here by myself, if you would like a bottle of something and i'll come as shrek some say i look like him only i'm not green. take care all the best speak to you soon Alan xx
