How time was spent in the old days.
Beautiful, I remember making my daughter a fancy dress also of bo beep out of crepe paper way back when she was about 4 (1976/7). She won first prize at the event. 'wonder if I still have the photo'. Wasn't as elaborate as this beauty, but a memory nudge for me. Thank you xx
wow that looks so beautiful ,the hours and work that must have gone into making it ,
Wow! The sheer patience and dedication people had back then. Then again no TVs or internet or instant distractions and entertainment. I guess in each era we learn new skills and some unfortunately become obsolete.
Take care

My great Aunt was basically a spinster. She lived with her twin sister all her life basically, the latter dying at age101. They spent their entire lives doing and collecting delicate things it seems.
Can remember having paper mini dresses in the late 1960s. Paper pants too.
aye times have fairly changed, no sewing, knitting, patching etc. nowadays.
You can just imagine the work going into this dress, fantastic really.
When i was young my mother knitted all our pullovers [jerseys ] , scarfs , balaclavas, even woolen socks and some of these were from wool stripped from another garment.!! aye and shes still going strong at 92 years of age
For any of you that remember, just after the war
"the army and navy surplus stores" " mother got my brother and i, all our school wear, including school haversack.
Mind you we looked a bit daft going to school like two wee japanese admirals!! [only joking ]
lovely old picture bernard, bless your old aunt ,it must have taken some patience in the making of that dress
kindest regards

I knew that would make someone laugh grannyjan , i even laugh myself when i think back "two wee japanese admirals "
but its true what you say, most things were knitted, sewed , patched etc. but very happy days there were 5 of us also g/jan.
i've just watched bbc 4 showing old cini. camera clips, some from as long 60 years ago, brought back happy memories of all the kids playing outside, in the middle of the roads etc, no traffic, girls skipping, playing ball , hopscotch etc, boys playing conkers, marbles, footy [not even a real ball ]making guiders from old pram wheels, and much more, ,, the kids know nothing of this nowadays, such a shame, really
ah well back to the present :D,,, and kip now.
enjoyed your post grannyjan,
lots of love jimmy xxx
