Endobronchial valves
Hi Sam.
I don't know about Scotland, but I know that the Royal Brompton in London do them. They're not for everyone ........I know because I went to the royal Brompton to see if I was suitable and was turned down because although I have emphysema, I also have bronchiectasis and the valves won't work for that
I was told that although there has been a degree of success with them, they're (the Doctors) are still not sure of the long term benefits and they're wondering if the valves will need replacing after a period of time?
If you're looking to get them I would give the Royal Brompton a call, I'm sure they'll tell you anywhere that is doing them in Scotland. Good luck. XX
Thank you Nikkers for your reply! I am currently looking into these valves for my dad after seeing an article in the Daily Mail,( we are always looking for new treatments), any idea how to find out more about these valves as help up here doesnt seem to be forthcoming?! Also if I found the number for The Royal Brompton is it ok to just call them? Thanks for all your info, hope you have a good day! Sam x

Hi Sam. You may want to try Dr Alan Kirk at Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Glasgow. Just found a general number 0141 951 5000. I believe he knows about the valve and has a clinical study ongoing. Good luck for your dad.
