Hi marypoppy49, welcome to the family...it's nice to meet you. You've come to the right place to meet wonderful new friends I don't know about your condition, but I'm sure someone here will have advice for you. Dating? Sorry can't help u here either but don't give up one of our lovelies has found love recently and shared her wonderful news with us. Chin up xx
I feel exactly the same Marypoppy. I have ipf, and now use oxygen for exertion. Not been in a relationship for about three years now, and as my condition is worsening (slowly I hope), I just except that I am probably going to be on my own for the rest of my life now. Hope you find someone
Thanks for all the ideas and kind thoughts I will live in hope that my night in shinning armour will come along and be understanding about this horrible condition I too get very short of breath on exertion and often bleed from the lung and have endless chest infections iv had it since I was 37 I'm now 49 I find it can be very draining mentally and physically
I sympathise with you marypoppy as having any kind of illness or disease can sometimes frighten people away. It is good that you found this great site though as there is a lot of help and advice on here. My husband has had sarcoidosis for 24 years now and copes very well generally. He is of course married to me so no need to worry about meeting people or dating but you can maybe try and take up a few hobbies and meet people that way. There are online dating sites but not everyone likes that sort of thing. I do wish you well and hope that you can find others who will be understanding and caring enough to want to be with you. Try and remain positive and you will find friendship and love one day probably when you least expect it. Take care and hope you remain as well as you possibly can.
Good luck. xxxx
Hi Mary
I think you may have already found a forum where you can chat to others and form online friendships.
I think most of us on here have serious illnesses which affect our daily lives some are visibly obvious and some controlled with medication with no outward signs.
Were you able to make friends easily before your diagnosis? I have found a link about tips on making friends I hope you might find it helpful.

As for online dating - you cannot be sure about the person before you meet them and you must take steps to protect yourself and your safety. I have included a link which I hope you will read to protect yourself when dating online.

I am a chatty person and will gladly talk to strangers which has led to a few new friends. A hello and thank you to my postman the other day ended up in nice chat and a smile everyday since making that contact. A random chat with a lady in the supermarket led to me finding a new gym buddy.
Are there any local community groups you could join.
I believe the more people to get to meet the more chance you have of finding friends and if they are local you may be able to find out more about them than someone on line.
I am wondering why I am giving you this advice as I am a confirmed singleton - yes I accept dates - but still hoping for my man to come along. I have enough on my plate looking after myself without taking on someone else to look after LOL.
Wishing you all the best.
Very well said SoK. Yes I suppose if one was always an introvert ,
Then that's hardly going to change. I'm a chatty type too and
Single as well. I guess I'm happy enough .
Everyone is very friendly and fun on thus site. SoK please
Have a lovely day.

Good Morning, Nice to meet you. My husband has severe COPD and has for years. He went on a pulmonary rehab course which he found fantastically helpful not just for increasing his fitness, giving him information about his illness but also meeting other people with similar conditions. You need a referral from your doctor but that might help you gain some confidence. Also from that he found out about a local Breath Easy group which meets once a month and again he found some lovely friends and they go on trips from time to time. Hope that helps. Lots of love TAD xx
Hi! There are many good sites for it! Especially I use kovla.com/datings/us/trenton/ ! I met there a lot of people to chat to! And also a few nice girls, with one of them I'm dating now!=)
