Advice Needed For Bytes Please

Very tired today...though quite why sitting in the car and then in a waiting room makes me completely incapable of sensible thought the following day, heaven knows...

So it probably wasn't the best time to connect the new camera to our respective laptops...the internet immediately slowed right down...I swear it does it on purpose, just to annoy...there followed a long period of waiting while the installation thingy took forever...but I daren't go away and leave it...if I do that it'll suddenly speed right up and there'll be flashing lights and sirens going off because it's finished and I wasn't there to click on 'next'...

When it finally finished, it snatched all my photos from where they'd been stored and plonked them down in the new installation without so much as asking nicely first...

The zoom is incredible on the new camera...but I have a problem. The photos are too big to go on here...too many bytes I mean...I Googled how to make them smaller but am none the wiser...does anyone know how to reduce them please...very simple language is essential! Can it be done via the camera?

Hi Vashti now I am not sure what kind of PC you have mine is a MAc so it's diff.

But if yours is not try this . It's easy when you know how.

Select a picture in the document.

Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Compress Pictures.

Picture Tools tab

NOTE If you do not see the Picture Tools and Format tabs, make sure that you selected a picture. You may have to double-click the picture to select it and open the Format tab. If you see the Drawing Tools tab, rather than the Picture Tools tab, see When I click a picture, the Drawing Tools tab rather than the Picture Tools tab appears.

Click Options, and then do one or more of the following:

To stop automatic reduction of picture file size when you save the document, clear the Automatically perform basic compression on save check box.

To automatically delete cropped areas of pictures when you save the document, select the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box, and then click OK.

To automatically save cropped areas of pictures, clear the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box.

TIP To use a shortcut to the compress pictures options in the Save As dialog box, click the Microsoft Office Button Office button image, point to Save As, and then click the file format for the Office document that you want. In the lower left corner of the dialog box, click Tools, and then click Compress Pictures.

Hope this helps .

Hi vashti,

Look at this:

There are other options in Microsoft Works and MS Paint.

Try this Vashti. You can go to the picture you want to change and right click on it. See where it says "Open with" and click on "paint". It will open in a new window and at the top you will see "Resize". Click on that and you can then enter the new size you want it to be. Click OK.

Hope that helps? XX

It is possible with any digital camera to choose the size you want your photos to be. On full size, the photos on my camera are huge. 55 inches by 35 inches if memory serves me right.

If you can find the setting on your camera, you should be able to fins the one for sizes.

The instruction leaflet may help.

To get an instruction manual if yours has gone AWOL, go to google, type in make of camera and number, Brownie123+instruction+manual

The + signs stop the search bringing up each item separately.
