Good Morning Dane, My husband also has COPD classed as severe now. You describe my husband - if he is sitting no-one would know he has COPD. Has you husband been referred to or been on a pulmonary rehab course? I had to ask the doctor about it but it was a fantastic course for my husband. It was about 6 weeks - twice a week - two hours each time, one hour exercise and one hour information. It really helped him - increased his fitness, his ability to walk and showed him how to exercise safely.
My husband tried a powerbreathe device (pre-runner to the aerosure device) and that did help because it exercised his lungs and increased his capacity. But not sure how much and he doesnt use it at all now. I suppose the problem is we are looking for a fantastic cure/remedy that really helps reduce the symptoms etc. but there isnt a quick fix!
The BLF produce a number of leaflets on safe exercise and there a number of videos on youtube showing american version of pulmonary rehab. COPD exercises. I am convinced that exercise is the key but it is learning when it is OK to be breathless. You could always ring the BLF helpline and ask their advise ...You can call the helpline on 03000 030 555 Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Remember to take of yourself, lots of love TAD xxx
having read all the blurb on this device I realised it states "been tested on healthy people" seriously what good is that. Pulmonary rehab, walking when you can, blowing up balloons all help together with a good healthy diet. Apologies if I sound terse but I find it so wrong that companies are making money from people like us who are desperate for some relief. Take care
