Something awful happened to the central heating pump late yesterday afternoon...it blew out fuses with gay abandon and of course I couldn't use my machine so had to use one of the ambulant tanks...
We didn't know it was the pump at fault...Himself tried everything to no avail and in the end he admitted defeat and I called on Bernie from the shop in town to come and save us...which he did.
But it took him an hour...reasonably enough, seeing as the shop doesn't close until six...
The wind was howling, the rain was teeming down...was as black as night outside...and Bernie trotted from the kitchen to his van and back again with drills and leads... letting in gallons of freezing cold air everytime he opened the front door...
Don't ask what the exact problem was...neither of us can understand what Bernie says...he always sounds as though his teeth don't fit properly...that, coupled with a strong Mayo accent, is a recipe for disaster...and Himself is practically stone deaf in one ear...
We did both understand the sentence which included...'Would have blown up'...
Whatever it was he's fixed it...and he charged the princely sum of thirty euro, so I immediately forgave him for the fact we can't understand what he's talking about...that he'd made the sitting room icy cold with going in and out...and that he is one of those blokes who talks to women's bosoms...I don't have bosoms, but he still aims his eyes in that direction...
Actually, he deserves a bonus point for totally ignoring the mummified mouse in the hot press...

Lol. What an adventure you have all had, hope you soon got warm again, and thank goodness he found the problem, you will notice from the posts you have been missed,
Glad it's fixed now vashti as you still need the heating on! 30 euros is about £20 quid isn't it? Bargain xx
Vashti, Bernie sounds a real treasure, It's awful when power fails at any time, but when you use Concentrators for Oxygen it's a nightmare,Glad you got it sorted, Best wishes, Bulpit
I too have had boiler problems Vashti. I've had a new one now but like you, the engineer was there, door wide open, the wind howling outside. I was freezing. lol
All fixed now though. I hope you've warmed back up now Vashti.
I think it would be cheaper to get "Bernie" to call in all the way over here, rather than a local! What a treasure, wish there were more like him around. Hope you're warm and cosy again now Vashti? Summer's coming. XX
