I must have had that bug in the past - I have had so many chest infections that have contained colourful named bugs in my sputum. I just take the prescribed antibiotic. Now on azithromycin and have peace for the last year.

After my second Colonectomy I contracted MRSA,methilyn resistant staphylococcus aureus. It was in the scar tissue and I did,nt have Copd at that time.I think they can control it quite well now.Good luck. D.

I think these scars are often sites of infection - my mother in law caught C.Difficile in the scar tissue she had after a bowel cancer operation. She recovered with treatment but couldn't have further surgery she needed to correct a bad hernia that developed there.

I was treated with Flucloxacillin for staph aureus in my throat before christmas. My GP was insistent that although it was SA, it definitely was not MRSA and says there is a lot of confusion about this. Apparently Staph aureus lives in all our bodies but gets out of hand when our immune system is low which is what happened with me.

What you had Flibberti must have been worse, especially as you were isolated. I don't quite know what makes MRSA develop, and whether it is a development of the normal staph aureus like maybe as you say when someone gets another infection which puts strain on the immune system, or whether MRSQ is a different strain to what the staph aureus i had.

Flibbi, this is a very thorough answer, I thoroughly agree with you.

Yes I have had that bug, Staphylococcus aureus, twice in a year. Doxycycline & Prednisone for 5 days cured it. Good luck Jk1957
