Depends what you mean by tummy problems if it's acidy probs this won't be any help. If it bloating / vowel probs won't do any harm there is divided opinion how good it is, but it is said to help the gut to improve to it's normal balance I take it regularly I feel it helps my sluggish bowel . Hope this helps

I won't take them due to not wishing to line the pockets of big companies, plus it's too sweet.

I take simple acidophillus capsules for a couple of months after antibiotics. I also have a large bowl of plain live yogurt every day.

Thanks for the reminder though, I think I'll read up about good bacteria as I've a lot of time on my hands at the moment!

I agree with your comments

Few months ago I was on anantibiotic which can encourage the growth of

C diff; which as you know is a serious health risk . I saw a loc um GP Old School who advised I take a Yakult each morning before taking my anti biotic followed by a good dollop of Live Yoghurt in evening after medication and to keep this up for a week after course completed.

So any time I feel unwell with bloating ect. or need any antibiotics I start the same treatment as she advised So you are practically doing the same all it is is putting the good bacteria back into the gut to balance the bad guys.

Hi ruby, Yakult is a small milky looking drink found in all supermarkets, bought in packs of 8 I think.!

It is said to to be very good for the large colon (bowel) by encouraging good bacteria to to deal with the bad bugs which are quite normal in the bowel, do no harm unless they multiply and cause a painfull tummy and or diahorrea, great when I'm on anti biotics my GP encourages me to continue with it

I take it one a day fairly regularly it settles my episodes of bloating,

Hope this gives you the information you wanted

I was given Actimel when in ICU 2008 and have taken it or now a cheaper alternative ever since. I have found I have not had the same amount of colds since. But still get pneumonia every 18 months or so. My pain relief governs my bowel to a greater extent now?
