At last they have provided me with a mask that fits properly and it is now hopefully doing its job just one minor problem is the bridge of my nose how does on stop that from getting sore where the mask presses?

oh brilliant you have one that fits at last
yeah just try putting a plaster over the bridge of your nose a thick one it worked for me x
Thanks Manndy
Hi Snook,
Great news! What a difference it makes when you get the right one. Occasionally I get a sore bridge of the nose, Mandy's recommendation of a plaster does work, but I would add only use a fabric plaster.
One of the recommendations I have seen on the Hope2sleep.co.uk web site is use an old tee shirt (clean) and cut out a shape that covers only the pillow with a hole in middle for your mouth and nose this is then placed under the pillow. I have yet to try this since there is gel version which I want to try, which is not available at the moment. The gel one is like a shamrock covering the bridge and the side and bottom of the nose (sorry I'm lost ass how to describe it better)
Whatever you use you will eventually get used to it. In my case I only now get occasional periods when my nose is sore and it might have something to do with restless nights.

Hi David. At the moment it feels as though someone has punched me on the nose and it is a bit tender. I bought some of those covers you mention from EU-PAP and they do seem to help seal the mask on the face. I have been trying to find a cure for the nose bridge today and have come up with putting a small lint pad behind the flexible cover on the nose bridge and fingers crossed it seemed to be OK but tonight will tell. Just a quick question, do you manage a goodnights sleep wearing it as so far I am only managing around 4.5 hrs.
Hi Snook,
I will try the lint, probably more convenient than a plaster and a better cushioning effect.
Once I got the face mask right I started with a similar 4 - 5 hours and now for about 8 months 7+ hours (most nights). I have recently been given some new tablets for COPD which gave me a really gippy tummy and my averages went down because I was awake a lot. I will say that I do get up during the night to go to the loo (I am on diuretics for Fluid on the lungs) or take thyroid tablets. Like you I am retired and now allowed to sleep a little longer!
I was Interested to see that like you I have COPD, in my case at a mild level.
Pleased to hear you are getting there - BPAP and CPAP requires the patience of a saint.
David
Hi David
Mine isn't just a mild level of CPOD now but Emphysema and breathing is a difficult chore kind of ruined the retirement for us as we moved to Spain 13 years ago and now I am just about housebound. Hope the lint works for you.
Chris
Hi I know this problem. Blister plasters work for me, try Compeed. Be careful when you take them off x
