Is there a list of hospitals where you can get a Fit to Fly test and certificate. I normally get treated at the Royal Brompton and Harefield in London but that is a 200 mile round trip and would like to find out if there is anywhere closer. I'm in Poole, Dorset.

Fit to fly test...
Hi SimonC, a fit to fly certificate is usually required by specific airlines or your insurers and as I understand it is normally available at GP surgeries but there is a charge for this service. I would enquire at your surgery reception and they should be able to advice on this. Hope that helps.
Hi Simon_C
Your GP should be able to discuss your fitness to fly with you. If your GP is unable to make any decision, they should be able to refer you to the hospital to have a full fitness to fly test. If you find that you do need oxygen for the flight, please give us a call on 03000 030 555 and we can talk you through the procedure for arranging oxygen at your destination.

Not much help Simon but I had my 'fit to fly' assessment at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. I think it's worth it because it gives you peace of mind that you are not going to be flying too high in a rarefied atmosphere and thus subject to lung and heart problems and you will not be needing oxygen. I can fly for 2 hours which means I can go to most of Europe. Good luck. Take care, Lizzy.
